Fall Obsessions

At my neighbor's house last week she offered me a taste of a sizzling chocolate bar and I nearly ate the whole thing when she left it on the table. It's chocolate with bacon and pop rocks that simulates the crackling and sizzling of bacon cooked on a hot stove. The texture is fun and lovely!

Speaking of fun and lovely, I had a great time tonight with my UCLA roomies. It was an early Thanksgiving potluck and S brought this game called Sequence. It's so addictive (and so simple)!! I can't stop thinking about buying and playing it.

Cheap Thrills

Here is Oto! playing with a rubber band that once embellished a box of chocolates from Jean-Paul Hévin, Paris. Watch how he flicks it and then looks confused.

Surf & Sand

Here are some pics from July's mini vacation at the Surf & Sand. I love how different cities have different colored sunsets. In Laguna, there's always this beautiful amber glow.

a Jag for Dad

Like many people in their generation, my parents have been green since.... well since forever. Everything was/is reused and recycled. Everything was/is salvageable. A pair of supermarket flip flops could last, give or take, 5+ years. My dad, in particular, is a modest spender. He's frugal with his personal expenses but always generous with us.

With Simon's return home, my dad finally sold the ol' Mercedes whale on Craigslist. This was the perfect time to do a little car shopping. With the much appreciatted assistance of friend extraordinaire Joel, we surprised my dad with a beautiful Jaguar XF in vapour grey.

He was definitely shocked and funnily a little mad that we spent the money on him. After the initial shock passed, he got really into it and is now loving his new ride. This was one the funnest experiences!
