A Kauai Birthday

Bill and I spent his birthday in Kauai this year. We flew out the morning of the big game and traveled first class to the garden isle. We spent 6 relaxing days at the Castle Kiahuna Plantation & Beach Bungalows near Poipu Beach. The entire island is beautiful and I wanted to take pictures of everything.... a napkin, a dirty lamp post, a leaf, etc. It just didn't capture the island right. To give you an idea, much of the film Jurassic Park was filmed in Kauai.

Bill and I toured Kauai ourselves and got some excellent advice about where to go and what to eat from newly weds honeymooning on the island. They sure do their research! Despite hearing the radio accounce that the hotels were at 94% occupancy it was so quiet and we spent the week exploring different beaches and naping. I did more of the latter. Although we didn't see many people, there were more than enough wild chickens running around and cock-a-doodle-dooing in the morning.

Because of the time change, we got to sleep in and still wake up early. On Sunday we made ourselves some 10% Kona Coffee and went for a walk on the beach. We were lucky enough to see a giant sea turtle sun bathing on the sand. He must have just climbed up because you could still see his tracks. We then headed to Nukumoi's to find me a new rash gaurd and to rent some surfboards. Unbekownst to Bill, there was already a board there waiting for him.

I had ordered a custom Tyler surfboard with the words Bill Hebner - Will you marry me?. He said YES!
