We all know that a healthy diet equals a healthy body and skin, but it's hard to determine what foods are better for you. Researchers have published a new paper that evaluate the association between nutrient intake and skin aging appearance in over four thousand women (American Journal of Clinical Nutrition 2007; 86(4):1225-31). Long article short, here are the results:
Higher intake of Vitamin C and linoleic acid is associated with a lower likelihood of a wrinkled appearance, dry skin, and skin atrophy. Higher fat and carbohydrate intake increased the likelihood of a wrinkled appearance and skin atrophy.
You know where to find Vitamin C. Linoleic acid is an essential fatty acid and can be found naturally in many vegetable oils. Think salad dressings.
